1-Phenylethylamine sold as amphetamine

One sample sold as amphetamine did not contain amphetamine but 1-phenylethylamine (74.1%).
1-Phenylethylamine belongs - in contrast to 2-phenethylamine - to the benzylamines and, in contrast to amphetamine, does not exhibit any psychoactive effect based on the current assessment. However, it was found in experiments that 1-phenylethylamine inhibits the conversion of noradrenaline into adrenaline. Therefore, it cannot be excluded that 1-phenylethylamine could enhance the effect of amphetamine.
1-Phenylethylamine can be used for the synthesis of amphetamine. Completely unknown are the toxicity and long-term effects of 1-phenylethylamine.
